2008 Comes to an End

Well 2008 was a busy year. My friend and I decided we would keep track this year of how much scrapbooking we got done. Here are my totals:
-364 layouts
-133 cards
-53 altered items (includes minibooks)
All I can say is WOW! I got a lot done!!

I am so very grateful this year for the 2 design teams I am currently on: Art Freckles and SavvynSassy. Thank you Shannon and Rhea for the wonderful opportunities!!

For 2009 I plan to scrap as much as 2008 (if not more). I am hoping to make a dent in my massive stash also and take a bit of a break from scrappy shopping (well after this Saturday, big sale at the LSS that I gotta check out first LOL!). I am planning also to submit at least every couple of months to magazines in the hopes of making my dream of being published a reality!!

I would also like to make a dent on my photos. I used to be caught up with scrapping pics to within a couple of months of the current date. Right now I still have Christmas pics from a year ago to scrap, as well as last winter, spring, summer etc. Either I am taking more pictures or not getting as much accomplished as I used to.

I am very thankful that I have the money and time to scrap and the health to enjoy it. I am thankful also my wonderful family, without them I would not have any pics to scrap! My great loves: my family, scrapping and well, TV is next LOL!!

After all that mushy stuff, just want to say HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!! Hope 2009 is a wonderful year full of health and happiness!!

Christmas is Over

Well I must admit I was pretty spoiled for Christmas this year. I was in 2 "Secret Santa" swaps, one we spent $20 on the person and one we spent $40 on the person and I got a LOT of stuff from both!! I should have taken pics. There was flowers, brads, Thickers, an album, papers, letters, stamps, gems etc. etc.!!

On Christmas eve I got a huge package from my BFF Karla! She made me the cutest framed poem about my compulsive scrappy shopping LOL! She sent so much Christmas pp I don't know how I will ever use it up (though DD took some LOL!). Of course one can never have too much paper or too many brads so I was in heaven! She sent lots of other goodies too, the box was practically overflowing!

Then for Christmas at my Mom's I got 3 page kits, some tags, a dymo labeller, stickers, letters and some $$$ for shopping! I took advantage of some boxing day sales, so now I think I have to take a little break from shopping for a while and actually use the stuff!

Oh, I also bought a couple of Vicki Boutin's retired class kits (which came Christmas Eve also, yay!!) so I think I will dive into them tonight.

I haven't scrapped in DAYS and I am really looking forward to some me time. Back to work tomorrow *sigh*...

Happy Holidays Wall Hanging

I got a Sassafras Lass desktop diorama in a magazine recently to cut out and make, and then there was a contest on their blog to do something more with it...so I did! I had an old Junkitz board which I covered in the Life at the Pole paper. I cut out and layered shapes from the paper on top of themselves with popdots and added stickers and letters from the line as well. I used the lace from the SavvynSassy December Art Freckles Vintage Christmas ribbon kit, Stickles and Kaiser gems to glam it up.

Here are some closeups:

More November Kit Creations

I just realized I didn't post the rest of my Art Freckles kit creations for November! So here they are:

I altered a small wooden perpetual calendar from the Dollar Store. I painted the frame part in black crackle paint, then covered it in Mod Podge so it wouldn't flake off. I inked all the edges of the wooden pieces with black ink, so they would be covered and covered all pieces with papers from the kit. Then I sanded all the edges for a real distressed look that goes with the papers. I added numbers from my stash, and I had a sheet of paper with all the months on it, so I cut out and inked them and stuck them on.
Another view. Perfect for a guy's desk!
I made this mini clipboard for DH for Christmas. (shhh) I used the Art Freckles November kit and paired it with the SavvynSassy Art Freckles November ribbon kit (and a few things from my stash). I stamped the To Do list with a Gelatins stamp, inked up the arrow and added the kit letters to it. I added a little stitching to the grey foam arrows from the kit and the adorable dog! The SNS ribbon and some buttons finishes it off at the bottom. These cards all feature the SavvynSassy November ribbon kit. The top 2 are using the Art Freckles kit as well. For the bottom 2 I used some new October Afternoon papers, yum!
And some Christmas cards! Using the SavvynSassy ribbon kit and Wassail papers by Basic Grey and My Yellow Bicycle Christmas papers.
Last but not least with the ribbon kit, this Fall layout using more October Afternoon papers!
You can get the Art Freckles kit right here and the SavvynSassy matching ribbon kit (which also perfectly matches the BG Granola line) right here.

Thanks for looking!

Happy Mail all Week!

What a great week for mail!

I got this awesome rak on Thursday from Tammi! Thank you so much!! I was the lucky winner on her blog, which you can go to here. I also got my Santa's Lil Sistah package yesterday from Tammy at Lil Scrappers. She wrapped it up so pretty with ribbon, made me a beautiful card and sent lots of yummy goodies...flowers, brads, stickers, metal charms, a stamp, ricrac and some sheers. Yum!! (I should have taken a pic.) Thank you Tammy!!

I also got 2 handmade cards from 2 different card exchanges. I'm expecting a bunch more this week.

And I got my December SavvynSassy DT kit (no pic available yet.) It matches the Art Freckles kit though and I have already done 2 pages with it!! Lace and pinks and greens, yum!

Oh and you may have noticed, I changed my blog setup. Green is my favourite colour, so this is a nice change!

More Christmas Stuff

My goodness I have not been around much! There is so much going on right now, working on DT projects, Christmas cards, Christmas gifts you name it! I haven't done just regular fun everyday scrapping in forever, feels like!
Here are some glass Christmas decorations I made a week or 2 ago. I used rubons and self adhesive felt on them and tied them off with a ribbon. (Excuse the scratched up table I took the pics on.)

Here are some Christmas cards I have made recently. These are made with the SavvynSassy Art Freckles November ribbon kit.

And these I made with the Lil Scrappers November Christmas card kit. Man is that kit packed full of stuff!!

25 Days of Christmas Album

I just love Ali Edwards' December Daily album idea. You can check it out here. I think I am going to do it, even though I have not started yet LOL! I found a clear album with 8 double sided pages, so I'll just add in the extra pages I need. We put up our Christmas decorations last night, so that is the first of my photo a day up until Christmas. We have so many things going on this month I'm sure it will be hard deciding which of the many pics from each day to choose!!

I challenge you to at the very least take a photo a day up until Christmas, but why not make a mini album with the pics too!!?
