Some Summer Layouts

Well tomorrow is the last day of summer vacation for my kids, then it's back to reality. My days will be slightly less busy and the kids will be in bed earlier at night which will give me more scrapping time. I have to say I am looking forward to it! We have had a great summer (in spite of the crappy weather for the first 6 weeks), but I am missing the routine a bit. I have taken lots of photos all summer, but I have not had much time for scrapping or blogging, so I am looking forward to catching up.

Here are a few summer layouts I have scrapped lately.

Flipflop Mini Album

After the fun filled Snap Shots of Summer photo challenge on Art Freckles, the design team each had a mini book tutorial to come up with for their pics. Thanks to Karla Gordon for her great idea, here is mine!
I used a cheap pair of flipflops from the Dollar Store for my cover.
I traced one onto a piece of cardstock for a template.
I used a 12x12 sheet of cardstock and traced my template onto one edge of it. Then I folded it with a little overlap, traced another flipflop, folded again and traced again, then cut them out.
I made a second cardstock folded piece the same as the first. I adhered the end flipflop from one sheet to the beginning flipflop on the second sheet to make a long string of 5 flipflops which made my book 8 pages.I embellished both sides of my minialbum, leaving a flip flop at the end of each side blank for the covers to attach. Plan it out carefully beforehand so it will fold the way you want and the front flipflop will be the front cover and same with the back. I put X's on the 2 flipflops so I wouldn't accidentally embellish them.

For the back flipflop I cut off the strap so it would be flat. For the front flipflop I attached a chipboard sticker for my title and tied ribbon around the strap. Then I adhered the album to the covers and voila!
The rest of the design team's minialbums will be posted here over the next few days.

August Art Freckles Kit Creations

The August Art Freckles 'In the Attic' kit is very vintage, but also very versatile. You can use it for so many different things. I just loved working with it.

A layout of me and my happy place:
A vintage layout of my parents when they were dating in the late 60's.

3 layouts of my niece, who just seemed to match the papers perfectly:

And 3 cards:

My absolute favourite part of the kit was the yummy Art Funk butterflies! I need MORE!!

And Still More Layouts

This is the last few layouts I did recently. Hopefully I will get a few more done in the next few days! I am feeling a bit of 12x12 layout withdrawal lately since working on 8x8 layouts LOL!

Organizing My Journalling Spots

I saw an idea in one of the magazines to organize paper scraps with a little bin so I decided to try it with my journalling tags, tickets, sheets, pads etc.

I had this whole drawer full to overflowing with journalling tags and blocks:

I bought this little basket at the Dollar Store:

And after making a bunch of cardstock dividers and putting everything in, here is my finished product:
I am really happy with how it turned out. Now it's easy to find the journalling spot I am looking for instead of digging through a bunch of baggies and having a hard time getting them all back in the drawer when I'm done LOL!

Some Layouts

Ahhh, summer is rushing by...school starts in just 3 weeks! I have not had much time for blogging, so I'll catch up with a few layouts today. I have taken a lot of summer photos though which will keep me scrapping long after summer is gone.

Right now I am working on 2 8x8 albums for the kids from our trip to Niagara Falls last summer, so hopefully when that is done I can get some more regular scrapping done. I only have about 10 pages left to do...
